The Chia plant (Salvia hispanica) originates in Mexico and other parts of Central and South America. Its small black and white seeds used to be an important nutritional ingredient known and used by the Aztecs.

The nutritional importance of the Chia Seeds lays in its high content of essential omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.

Chia seeds also are rich in protein, minerals and numerous vitamins. They have a high amount of fiber, with extraordinary swelling properties, beneficiary for the digestion and bowel function.

Chia seeds can easily be mixed with regular food, for example sprinkled onto salads, fruits, added to dressings, cereals, smoothies, soups, yogurt or baking mixtures.
